Hi everyone,

Just a short introduction, my name is Andreas, from Cape Town. Hi :salute:

I picked up my Patrol this past friday, 11/11/2022. Here are the details:

Nissan Patrol 4.2 SGL
1997
TB42s/Carb
Manual
Metallic Green
Cloth Interior
No third row
Rear Diff Lock (need to fix/check)
232xxxKMS on the clock (Speedometer wasn't working when I got it, so the odometer wasn't either, actual mileage may vary, will do an eNatis vin check to get a rough idea of last sold mileage. Speedo fixed now)

15' Black Steelies, 31x10.5 R15 Hankook Dynapro MT
EFS Shocks and steering damper
no idea on the springs, but the rig looks about stock height

The car is in pretty good condition for the age, little niggles here and there as to be expected, but overall I am very happy with it!
This is my second 4x4, I let go of my fantastic 2000 Mitsubishi Pajero LWB 2.8TD NL Blister Fender (Long Travel Bilstein shocks, 3" Lift, 285/75 R16 BFG KM3's, Custom Steel Bumper) in order to purchase the Patrol, so far not regretting it one bit, though I still do like and miss the Pajero, it was a solid rig!

I have a YouTube channel documenting my 4WD adventures, builds, trails, DIY's etc. Any support, subscriptions, views, likes etc there would be much appreciated:

Some immediate things to sort out on the car:

- Diagnose and fix rear diff lock
- Find and Fix coolant leak
- Fix coolant temp gauge
- Fix some dodgy wiring on Tcase and in engine bay
- Service

Here are the few pics of the new rig:

Howzit. Already met via whatsapp :salute:
- Diagnose and fix rear diff lock
The diff-lock solenoids get rusty inside, usually just the bottom one, and the piston sticks. First thing to check.

Howdy

Thanks, going to tackle that soon, first busy with a coolant leak from a broken heater hose elbow under the thermostat housing

Thanks for all the welcomes! Appreciate it :salute:

I will definitely miss the Pajero, it was an awesome rig, and never skipped a beat, but yes, very excited to have the Patrol! Loving it, can't wait to get the leak fixed and burn some more fuel!

A little update on the build with some maintenance I carried out over the last week:

- Replaced all heater hose fittings on the engine, old ones were nasty!
IMG_8194.JPG
- New fabricated intake manifold water hose pipe
- Replaced all the heater hoses, made up my own from the right ID/OD Coolant Hoses
- Replaced the fuel hoses
- Replaced quite a few vacuum lines, also put them in their right places, as they were a mess before
- New Coolant Temp Sender, Temp gauge now works

- Fixed wiring on the Transfer Case speed sensor to get the Speedometer working
- Fixed and cleaned up some bad earth's in the engine bay
- Fixed some wiring on the Transfer Case selector indicator

- Car was running super rich and lumpy after completing all the above, must have messed with the carb mixture adjustment screw by mistake during the work, tuned the carb a bit, and changed the spark plugs, all good now

More Maintenance to come soon!
Engine, Diffs, Tcase, Gearbox oils, fuel filer, oil filter, air filter.
Fix issue with rear D/Lock
etc etc etc!
