Front Lokka Issue

Evening all

I couldn't find a relevant post that covered this topic after a quick search. I am obviously not fantastically mechanical minded like some on this group - but always willing to learn new things and get the hands dirty.

So the issue, I installed an Ausie Lokka a couple of months ago in the front of my TB45E. Shortly thereafter I had a right front auto hub noise and took out the auto mechanism. At the same time as the lokka I changed my diff ratios.

So after a lot of wondering if the lokka was actually working, I got video evidence of front right wheel not spinning. We went for a nice river trip after the river came down - lots of mud and lots of fun.

Anyway, so got home and jacked the front up.
When in 2wd both wheels spin freely.
In 4wd with hubs locked the right still spins freely - with no clicking noise as I would assume the lokka would make of the wheels were spinning at different speeds. The left front doesn't spin with the right.
When in 4wd and hubs locked the left doesn't move much - which would be the correct result I would feel.

So, I am wondering if the hub isn't busted? But shouldn't it make some noise? Ive had to replace my axle seals after the hub gave issues right after the lokka install.

Otherwise the lokka wasn't installed correctly possibly?

Kindly assist

Lokka has only 2 modes, either work fine or bust to million pieces. ... must be your hub

I think it could be the Lokka. If the pre-load springs aren't in there, I guess it could behave like that. However, I also suspect the issue is most likely hub-related.

It should be pretty easy to check though. Take the hub off, take a vice-grip and a piece of leather or an Aluminium strip or something. Clamp the vice-grip onto the end of the side shaft, clamping gently and using the leather/aluminium as "soft jaws" so as not to damage the end of the shaft, and see if that will turn.

If the Lokka isn't working, this shaft should be very easy to turn, so be gentle with the vice grip.

Logic tells me one should not set the hubs to Auto with a Lokka installed, could it cause damage ?

Maybe keep the hubs locked

Thanks, yes will take them out and try and give them a bit of maintenance then. Much less work than if it would be a diff issue.

cheers

The auto hub should only turn once sideshaft is moving
