Forum Maintenance - 2022-03-23

Just a heads-up. The forum will be down for maintenance for a few hours from 17h00 tomorrow (23rd March). I'll make a post on the social WhatsApp group as well when I start and when it is up and running again.
I'm hoping things go swimmingly, in which case it should only be down for a very short amount of time.
I'll make a post on this thread (and the QA group) when everything is up and running again.

Morning folks. Just a friendly bump. The forum will be pulling a "Monica Lewinsky" at 17h00 this afternoon.

A final bump on this. The forum will be put in maintenance mode in an hour. Thereafter, it will be unavailable for a bit whilst I do the update.

The update is done.
What has changed for normal users:
1: A ton of stuff on the backend.
2: The menus will look a little different. There will be a drop down menu at the top of the page for referencing new posts, unread posts and similar.
3: Thanks will work with Tapatalk.
4: Various bugfixes - such as the deletion of private messages now work and similar.
5: Images will be resized on upload and in posts. Clicking on the image will open a "lightbox" to display the image.
6: EXIF information (meta-data associated with photos uploaded) will be stripped from images to prevent the security concerns related to geo-tagging which have been raised in the past.
What has changed for admins:
1: Not much, really. But a bit of customised code which was causing issues with upgrading has been replaced with stock functionality. This was associated with user registrations. When users register, you will get a pop-up notification in forum (if you are online) after which you will need to "administer the user" and then activate the account. If you want to receive the email related to new user registrations with direct links to activate the user account, this can be enabled as follows: User control panel -> Board Preferences -> Notification Options. Check the email box for "User requiring activation".
That is it, pretty much. If people run into issues, please let me know.

Sir Ian, thanks for the update!
I missed the "Active Topics" shortcut, until I paid more attention to your changelog...
