Exterior Door Trim Removal

Post by hugejp »

Hey guys, does anyone have any experience removing these exterior door trim pieces?

Any vids or tutorials available?

I am trying to carefully remove & refit them.

HAHAHA :rolling: .. Alex you made my day.... :rolling:

@JP, If I'm not mistaken those rubber door bumper things are stuck on with just double sided tape.... but a VERY strong double sided tape. On my one rear door I can see where it is pulling away from the door a slight bit. It's been like that since I bought the patrol and hasn't loosened up any more, hence why I say its bloody strong stuff.

Hallo
I don't have pictures but i try to explain.
They have a thin line (+- 10mm) of double sided tape top and bottom of the panel
The flat sections on the rear door (close to the front door) is completely stuck with double sided tape.
It has body clips that fits into holes in the door. These are square clips into square holes in the door.
These clips is a little tricky, like all clips on the Patrol, and can break the trim or clip if not done correct. i got that lesson learned

I took a blade and oil for lube to cut the double sided tape first. Take care not to damage the paint with the blade.
I took the inner door trim panels off to release the clips, because i could not get them to release just from pulling on the outside.

From the inside of the door you have access to these clips. They are just below the impact protection inside the door.
With allot of struggle i got the clips to release from inside the door.
It helps if you have a person to pull a little on the trim while you struggle to get the clips loose.
