Patrol Game Driver

Post by Chris Skinner »

Hi Guys - I just got back from a month touring around Bots with an off-road trailer - started out with intention of doing 10 days, eight of which were to be in Central Kalahari Game Reserve and then return home. Well plans can change quickly when you retired, I stayed in bots for a month and had an awesome time with my trusty old 4.8 and the trailer - CKGR is aa must f you never been there - I will say more on that later as I am considering doing a full trip report on the forum soon.

Anyways, just outside Maun I met a guy who owns a really cool Patrol Bakkie that NIssan themselves had converted into a Game Driver. Its a diesel obviously and I had the privelege to drive it in the bush - probably the best fit-for-purpose suspension I've ever seen in a Game Driver. The vehicle only has 8000km on the clock and is about 3 years old I would guess. Apparently, Nissan SA tried to break into the Game Drive market in Bots and had 2 or 3 of these made up and demo'd in Bots - this guy ended up buying this for an absolute song almost brand new when the marketing campaign apparently came to a shuddering halt.

This guy runs a safari business and with lodges, camps etc, he has many similar LC's etc - but now he swears by this vehicle - it is his absolute favourite and wishes he could get his hands on more of them... He's also selling a private island in the Swamps if anyone is interested

Actually I met a number of guys around Maun that were really interested in my Troll - there seems to be a preference building up for these tough beasts up there!

Should put him in touch with Alan Young from Northern Offroad - he also does a nice Game Viewer conversion on Patrols!
