Which replacement bumper and why

At some point I would like to get rid of the cow catcher and get a replacement bumper. I realize that we all have preferences but down here in the Souff we are also challenged by high shipping costs etc and there are local companies making the stuff So without getting into a BMW / Merc is better discussion I'm hopefully these questions can narrow by search done from the experience on the forum.

Which replacement bumper did you fit?

Did you have problems with fitment? (i.e. bad fit - persuasion required)

Why did you choose it ? (price, looks, function - needed a winch fitment, availability, bling factor etc)

Good question. IMHO:

-> the nicest bumper I've seen is one made by G-Man = GTEC
-> the strongest by Burnco
-> The best of both worlds and also most expensive = ARB

For my needs, I picked the Burnco!

See story here: http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.ph ... lit=burnco

I like the triple loop bars for some protection of the headlights and also those that dont stick out to far. Jules for that price who can say no .

John,

I also have the Burnco bumpers (front & rear) on my vehicle - and Burnco rock sliders too!!! I just like Hein's products and it is exremely strong and durable.

Mine has taken some severe beatings over rocks and things and apart from paint scratches the bumpers & rock sliders itself has never been damaged.

I also had them resprayed once already - and then they litterally look brand new!! They also "compliment" the Patrol very well as far as I am concerned and gives it a nice look as well. See pics attached.

Excellent products!!!

I have to agree with John. Gerhard's bumper looks really nice!! I like the Burnco version as it sits nice and flush with the front body work.
But:
Since my vehicle has airbags and we have some serious rules at work regarding car specs, I chose the ARB deluxe winch bar for my front bumper as it is 1 of only 2 that is airbag compliant certified. (the other is TJM iirc). What made my decision easy was the second hand one I picked up for a good price! What I don't like about it is the big space between the bumper front and the radiator - fine if you want to fit a winch, not so nice if you have no intention of fitting one!

For my rear bumper I fortunately am able to do my own thing and I like the sturdiness of the Burnco, SO the Patrol is currently with Hein for a Burnco rear bumper and towbar combo!

Decisions, decision , I've always liked a bit of chrome so a polished Alu bumper does look sweet.

Any problems with the Alu bumpers, I guess they ar more difficult to repair, I can't take my stick welder and torch and bent and weld it.

But then the GTec bumper with some extra lights and maybe some bars for the lights does look nice, can judge the edges of the bumper then.
