Y62 2" lift

Post by Markd »

Hi,

After looking and calling everyone (OME, Tough Dog), substantial google searching all I found with some kind of reviews was Ontrack 4x4 2" suspension kit for the HMBC model, which I bought through Dash off-road down under. I was quite nervous as it was quite an expensive exercise and haven't found anyone locally that has attempted this, I also know 5% of installations experience alignment issues and have to fit an adjustable upper control arm (however this needs a +20mm mag offset... and more importing). Which is quite tough on the wallet and to find with Y62 rim size, apparently the id is a bit of an issue including the offset?

Never mind that, I have attached before and after pics, I am thrilled, car drove fine after fitment and alignment, it is definitely a bit stiffer in the rear. I am debating going to 17" rims or staying with 18", but definitely want to go bigger on tyres and AT/MT??? I am still going through the mountains of Tyre and Rim posts.

Let me know if I added the pics properly? thanks.

I understand that 35" tires fit without any modifications. A 35 on 18" rims gives the same side-wall as 33" on 16" rims, which is better than most, so I would say you can stay with your current rims?

As for what tires, I think the more aggressive AT's and the more moderate MT's are moving closer together in terms of performance in pretty much all respects? But I still feel the best AT is an MT.

With some steel bumpers and more aggressive 35" tires the Y62 becomes a very good-looking vehicle!
