Tb48 and auto box out - Td42 and manual box in
Hi all
Has anyone ever attempted to remove the tb48 engine and auto transmission and install a td42 with manual box in a gu (y61)? Would the manual box and engine bolt straight in? I have a gu tb48 auto with a body that is in good condition and also have a td42 manual with body that is accident damaged. I want to install the diesel with manual box in place of the tb48 auto but not sure if this would work due to duff ratios , wiring etc? Am I better off just doing a body swap?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

If you have a donor car its easy just dont tuch the internal harness in the car . Only pick up what you need to make the dash work . Tijmen one is going well . You meed to change centers also the diesel is not going to be happy with 3.5 centers 4.11 are in your diesel

That is gonna take much of your time with little or no success at all. Fitting the engine and gearbox might not be a problem, but i doubt wiring will be that precise. Well you never know till you have tried, just give it a try

Thanks guys sounds a bit complicated . I think I may just attempt to tidy up and convert existing td42 body into dual cab and try tidy up interior as it is trash , dash is also blistered badly.
I also have access to a single cab body but like the idea of double cab.

You should rather seriously consider taking the TB48's body off the chassis (leave engine and gearbox in place) and fit the whole body onto the engine and chassis of the TD42!
That may be a lot easier......
Then you can fit some of the TD42's body (that is maybe not too damaged) on the TB48's chassis and engine and make a serious toy.......

Someone previously said electrics may be an issue if putting tb48 body onto td42 chassis ? Do we just leave electrics and connect power to injector pump? What about dash cluster etc will it work?
