Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Good day Gents

So ive done some searching on the forum and other international forums and have come across quite a few solutions.

My patrol pulls left quite strongly, and the left tire wears on the outer edge.

My patrol has a 2inch lift, im not sure if the castor bushes were changed to the caster correction ones as I bought the patrol with the lift.

I've done wheel alignment twice at two different shops. Both state all is within spec.

I've read that there is a solution to intall "shim a line" offset king pins on the left side and this will correct the problem.



Any advice on where to start and who can help?

send us a pic of the arms on your diff then we can see....but speak to Pieter on a aftermarket drag link then you can ajust each wheel

Generally speaking a 2" lift shouldn't require castor correction bushes, but I had the same on mine ever since I bought it 10 years ago. I have replaced tyres a few times and they always kept pulling left. I recently fitted a new set of 33" muddies, and by some miracle my Patrol runs dead straight now. Why I have no clue, but as a suggestion, unless your tyres are rotational (can only rotate in one direction) then swap front left to front right, and visa-versa, and see if that helps.

Alternatively an aftermarket drag link from Peter Connan will help to adjust things, or try new 2" rubber, not poly castor correction bushes.

My Sani has done it from day one with the solid axle, on leafs, and now worse on coils.
But if you say bigger tyres sorted it, then hopefully 35s will sort it out. Ok, you know I'm trying to find every excuse in the book to convince myself 35s are better than 33s, lol.

I unfortunately don't have my patrol at home, broke the exhaust last weekend whilst attempting a few obstacles so had to leave it in haarties.

I'm going to take it to viper for new exhaust and then stoping In at Peter to pick up a skid plate he's made up for me. I'll ask him to have a look and see if he can help with the drag link.

I've rotated and swapped tires around with both wheel alignment excersises and that hasn't helped. I'll be due for tires early next year so don't want to put on new tires and have them wear incorrectly before sorting out the problem.

No worries bud. Like I said ... I was gobsmacked when it disappeared with the new Kumho MT51 muddies. By the way.... they are really nice tyres

I am concerned that it is actually wearing the outer edge of the tire noticably! This sounds like more of a problem than normal.

I don't think a drag link will help. The directional stabiliser tht Marinus advertised a few weeks ago wouldstop the pulling but i don't know if itwill fix the wear.

Ay chance you can post the actual wheel alignment values?

Also, nust a trick I found: running the right-hand tire slightly softer fixes it on my car...

My CRD stock standard runs straight as an arrow.
My 4.2D 2" lift, pulls left......but not much

Both with KO2's

Both of mine have 2inch lifts and they both go completely straight, no sign of any pulling at all.

Has it done this ever since you bought it? Maybe something not right with the lift kit in it? Isn’t there something like the left hand side springs are supposed to be longer than the rights or something like that, maybe they were installed wrong way round. I dunno.

Btw, where were you that you broke the exhaust off!?
