Môre, ek wil bietjie hoor waar koop almal hulle spare wheel covers ?

Izak,
I also use Escape Gear. I also store my toeknuip rooster, stand, brush and tongs in them. However, mine work perfectly. Are you sure you ordered the correct size cover for your spare wheel ?
Can you post a photo ?

Mine is a Jackalberry, but I am sure Jorrie or IanT's guy can make them.

Do you think the tyre becomes more brittle or damaged by the sun when you don’t have a full cover?

The Sun always has an effect, I have seen this on scrap vehicles that have stood outside for years the tyres that see more rays are always harder. We even noticed it at my daughter's school when removing tyres from an old play area, the top half of the tyre that was above ground was way harded than the half that was in the dirt. I recon if your spare is rotated with the rest of the tyres it reduces the impact, but a cover can only be a positive.

UV is one of the most significant factors in aging tyres.
The other is cycling temperatures
How effective a cover is in protecting a tire from tjese I really don't know.
