Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi Guys

We're going to Lesotho in less than 2 weeks' time for our annual Roof of Africa Trip.

I heard there are some new requirements re Vehicle Documents now.

1) Does anyone know what these are, what Docs do you need?

2) Anyone knows what the current requirements are regarding Unabridged Birth Certificate Thingies?? I'm going with my 2 boys, of which Sev is still under 16, so does my wife still need to do that "Permission" thingie??

One more thing..........what's the diffs between an Abridged and Unabridged Birth Certificate??

On Sev's Unabridged, both my wife and I are noted as parents (with the same surname).

On an Abridged, only one Parent??

Yeah If only one parent of a "minor" child is crossing the border with the minor, then certified permission letter preferably from a police station from the other parent must be taken with ( original certification stamp if on a photocopy of the letter )

Not exactly sure of the difference between the Unabridged vs Abridged birth certificate, but I know they will NOT accept the Abridged ( I carried both with me when crossing the border and was told they are not interested in the Abridged Birth Certificate)

Regarding vehicle papers, I didn't know there was anything different to what was previously expected.

I heard there are some more Docs needed regarding Natis etc etc nowadays Guys, will go ask my tjommie at the SAPS and Post here. Some "verification" Thingie.

Update - may be of use to someone:

Unabridged Birth Certificate(s) still required. If one Parent travels alone with kid(s), the other Parent must give Permission, and you must have a copy of the other Parent's ID/Passport, and sommer also Marriage Certificate. ALL MUST BE CERTIFIED, not necessarily by SAPS, any Com of Oaths will do.

Then, you have to have a Copy of your Natis, and stop at a SAPS Vehicle Unit, so that they can verify your ID to the Natis.

If your car is still under HP, you must get a Bank Letter and a Copy of Natis.

We were there last week.

No one asked for that "Verify"thingie, though..........but it is compulsary, so rather do it.
