As per the title. Do I need to go to the agents for the brake light switch or is there some other generic part I can substitute?
I had the "stuck in park" problem and found the switch to be faulty

Should be able to get it at thew local Midas.
Take it out and take it along as a sample. Some years ago, my Alfa had a similar problem, and I found the BL switch was the same for just about all the Continental cars, Alfa, VW, Opel, MB, BMW etc.
If the thread where it screws in and the locking nut fits the thread, and if it has 2 wires, any similar switch should work, it is a simple pressure switch....(the pedal being right to its maximum "up" position provides the pressure). That wire is normally a positive wire (could also be earth, makes no difference), interrupted by a switch. If there is no pressure on the switch (pressure is removed when you depress the pedal) the wire circuit gets completed and the brake lights come on.
Easy as that, no electrickery......

Ja just returned from a shopping mission. Nissan is two hundred and something bucks and they don't have stock. The generic part cost me R50. The only issue is that the two piepies are at 90 degrees to each other instead of parallel so I'm about to make a little adapter with solderless terminals. Sorted.

Ok so I McGuyvered the aftermarket switch to fit the plug and it's working. Brake lights and stuck gear shifter fixed. So my Patrol is now .009% Kia/Ford
For what it's worth, the Nissan parts guy told me quite openly that they only stock service parts and nothing else for the Patrol.
