So the question was asked in another thread, some use VHF (2m) others use UHF (70cm) and in the Western Cape there are people that still uses 29Mhz radios.

So what do you use?

As I asked the question, i will post the first reply...

I am a HAM so have the luxury of using a mobile dual band radio that can receive and transmit on both VHF and UHF.
In addition I do have a VHF, UHF and dual band hand held radios in the car, with both the VHF and UHF mag antenna options should it be needed. When static, i mostly use the hand held radios as the mobile dual band uses a lot of power and I at this stage do not have a second battery in and run it from the main battery.

Bosvark. UHF hand-held, but I use it usually with an external antenna and microphone.

One day I might actually get my finger out my bum and mount the thing somewhere, and as these things go, the next day I will get a built-in radio...

The unlicensed options such as Bosvark and Zartek radios are the most cost effective at I think around R1k per radio https://www.vratvark.co.za/product/bosvark-radio/.

Interesting that most comments refer to Bosvark, but poll so far indicate most used is VHF.

Also think I am going to get a vhf. Have the license , might as well use it. I have very crappy zartek uhf(think the range is about 10 cm, actually the range is about screaming distance). But meh, decided!

Hmmmm I have a few but not exactly sure what they are.

1 x small boat handheld Radio - 29Mhz?
1 x small handheld Radio with Fri Arvie Club and I think 2 or 3 other 4x4 club frequencies on it (Think LCCSA is one   )
1 x mounted radio with extension mike in the Troll I just bought - will see what it is when i collect it next week.
1 x Isatphone Pro satelite phone - just bought it - still need to try it out once I get it - also next week.
