Hello All,

What fuel have you been using in your common rail/diesel engines.

Since the purchase of my Patrol, this year, I have been using 500ppm. This caused a few stoppages. When the car stops, I then had to pump the rubber (don't know the technical name, so attached a pic) several times and then the engine starts.

But after switching over to 50ppm, never had any problems.

Year: 2013
Engine: 3l Common rail
Mileage: 51000

Hi Rahul

There is a similar issue from another forum member "Paul". Im not sure if you have similar symptoms as he has, but check out this thread:

@Paul, have you been using 500ppm in your CRC? this might explain filter blockage because of the high sulphur content?

Been through the post. Probably due to high sulphur content. I also experienced the stoppages when the fuel reaches to a certain level. At first Nissan thought it could have been attributed to air pockets etc...

But after switching over to 50, then all my problem were resolved. This explains why Nissan is recommending 50ppm for the newly released models.

Hi. I use mostly 50 and 10 ppm. But do use 500ppm when the need arises. I changed my filter to one used in older models. This has stopped me from having issues. So I guess you could do the same if you want to use 500ppm.

This is very interesting. 3 patrols same issues. Nissan stil non the wiser. He he.

Hi Josh,

Thats it. 50/10 ppm is the perfect solution, or use the filter that you got if you have to fill it with 500.

See this post of Miner. Nissan now recommends 50ppm for common rail engines.

Yes it is always better to drive with cleaner feul. But one should be able to use 500ppm without issues on these patrols. Anyway. The solution is the older blue filter for those interrested

todays filters micron values are much lower than on the older type diesel vehicles and therefor it filters much better and when you buy 500ppm diesel it increases the possibilities of blocking that nice new filter much quicker and also stops any water
If you drive an late model diesel Audi and put 500ppm diesel in its going to stop before you have finished the tank of diesel ......repair cost mmmmmm R36000.00 :oldtimer:

I don't think there will be a significant difference..
