I am using my Datsun Safari for years now to camp a weekend in each month with the Friends of Pilansberg (FOBS) and I camped and Borakalalo for years and since November last year I started working at Pilansberg. It is so easy with my Safari to camp to just lift the canopy roof - within 10 seconds - to be able to walk inside the Safari with my bed, fridge and kitchen part to make food and coffee. :blonde:

I'm not yet able to use my Patrol for driving open roads because we are not allowed to use my Patrol for holidays because of my wife's pelvic problem. I just decided to create a tent for my Patrol's roofrack roof so that I can drive open road with my Patrol.

I just make the tent by myself this week to just connect it on the roof part that will take my within 2 minutes and also put the pins at the bottom part in the ground. I will also put my bed, chair and table in the tent and I also created an open part for the rear passenger door so that I can open the door's window to get to my rear battery and 1000watt invertor so that I can use the power that I might need. I will make food in the morning and also lunch because we braai every late afternoon. I will have my kitchen unit on the table - I can have the small toilet also in the tent.

If I need to go and work I will just disconnected the top part of the tent so that it lay down and I then close the roofrack roof and can go to work. Because the tent part will still be there nobody can then use my camp area when I'm away to our work area. To come back after our work I will just park next to the tent on the ground, open the roofrack roof and just connect the tent to the roof parts and the I can walk inside the tent.

I will never use a rooftop tent because it is not good for my to be able to walk inside and make food and use the small toilet!!

I asked a company to build the tent for my and it would have cost my R5300-00 and I brought the other stuff and build it my self and cost my less than R1000-00!!

Here is the photos so long and when I use it next month at Pilanesberg I will add more photos to show you!

I did go to Pilansberg this weekend with my Patrol and used the tent - lots of people came to look and is very happy with the tent and the way I use it there to go and work, come back and quickly lift up the tent to start my lunch and then lay down to rest after hard work! :blonde:

I'm very happy with the tent, sleep nicely and checked that the temperature between inside and outside is 3 degrees different.
