I assume you're talking about Breedts Nek pass - between Magaliesberg and Buffelspoort. If so, yes.
It's one of our regular day-trip routes. We normally take the dirt roads from "Plaas Se Gat" in Harties, all the way until Breedts Nek. Stop at the summit. Drive to Buffelspoort dam. Braai and then head back the same way. We stop for a beer at "Plaas se Gat" on the way back. :)
As for conditions in the rain: I went up on the 2nd of January. There were very heavy rains at the time - including a massive storm which took out all the campers at Buffelspoort Dam the day before (the video was almost viral-like on FaceBook).
It's not difficult. You often even see platkarre driving up. The pass is not in great condition, although it's no sweat for a Patrol. It's easier travelling South -> North than North -> South. Reason for this is that the very bad bit of the pass is on the Northern side. As I said though, with a Patrol it's a breeze. Also, the stony-type ground means that the pass does not really get particularly muddy - even after heavy rain. There might be a few more gullies washed into it after heavy rain. But this is not something I'd worry about.

I've also included the GPX file for the pass proper - just in case anyone is interested.

One regularly sees sedans on the way up. Most seem to make it without too many issues. I've had to help one or two in the past. However, there is a post on the Community Forum web site at the moment where it has been claimed that De Wildt has better tracks than Beedtsnek (

Your post got me keen to start publishing my "dirt road passes" videos I've been collecting. I'll start a new thread on that. :)
