Benoni Dunes Anyone?

I have an idea for a Friday arvie after work GTG,

Maybe some of you have heard of "Chimes", here in the far East?

It's basically a mine dump with a "Play Pit" made of nice clean, thick, white sand.

Lots of 4x4ers that play there on weekends.

There are some serious challenges and you can be entertained for quite a while is you so feel.

What I'm suggesting is a quick 2-3hr play and then a beer or braai afterwards?

Any other suggestions? Maybe a date or something?

Hi Wilkie,

Yes, it would be possible. Only thing is that it can get a bit crowded on Saturdays and Sundays with the quad bike brigades. Probably not that bad, but we won't be alone then. It's been a while since last I was there on a Sunday.

There are lots of space to go ride, but in the sandpit, where the dunes are, is where most of the quad bike guys do their thing.

Nothing is cast in stone, so we can check it out and decide what to do on the day.

The last thing that I have in mind is do something formal and scheduled. I would like for it to be relaxed.

Some guys of the 4x4 Community also GTG there quite frequently, so I thought, Why not us Patrollers? - On our own mission...

Maybe I should give some sort of warning also.

There are some illegal mining that goes on around there somewhere, so there might be some non-4x4 characters walking about, but I have never crossed swords with any of them. If you drive around and stick to the main routes, chances are that you wouldn't even come across them.

There are a lot of off road activity there, so I would assume it isn't that unsafe.

I usually take my safety with me everywhere I go, so for me that really isn't a problem. I just don't want to compromise anyone else' safety or make them feel uncomfortable. And I also don't feel comfortable being in charge of everything.

I would much rather paint a decent picture of what is to be expected and then you guys can make a better informed decision.

(Dirk- asb, help broer!!! Hoe kom ek uit hierdie liability ding? :helpsign: :helpsign: )

So if anyone is keen do come do a RECCE with me first, maybe we should do that then?

Or we can just have few beers at a lekker pub...

Oh yes one more thing. I am creating a database that will be accesed via a website where you will be able to see every 4x4 playground and trail in SA......... coming soon

You will be able to send any location from that site to your gps and go there
