Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

A mate of mine rolled his diesel Prado a few days ago and well.... the Prado she is finished. Luckily my mate walked out of the wreck with just a few bruises and a stiff neck and a sore foot.

So now he is looking for a replacement..... He is looking for a Patrol/Cruizer/Discovery type vehicle as he is not the smallest chap I know and he will look a little out of place in a Nissan Micra....hahaha

Petrol is not an option as its going to be a daily drive. So diesel it will have to be. The old school 4.2 is not ideal for him as he needs a little more zip and the turbo 4.2s can deliver that, but he still prefers the fuel consumption of the 3.0 better for daily driving in town and on the highway.

Does anyone know this vehicle? Frans ?? dis net om die hoek van jou? It is a 2001 but the motor has been rebuilt so possibly everything has been resolved?

Hard to find, true offroader Nissan Patrol 3.0Di GL 4x4, in very good condition.
Engine professionally reconditioned at 211 754km, from Tygerberg Engine Rebuilders, in 11/12/2012. Economical for a 3 ton SUV. Wired for auxiliary battery including power supply loom to the rear of vehicle.
Factory 2nd (gauged) 35lt tank, coupled to main 95lt diesel tank. Custom front and rear Maniac bumpers, with high-jack lifting points front & rear, as well as recovery points, 1x rear bumper spare wheel carrier. 5x Dick Cepek custom rims with 5x EXCELLENT COND 16" BFG A/T's (3x brand new & 2x with only 23000km). New electric remote winch, spot lights in front bumper.
TJM Gold series suspension upgrade, including steering damper shock, polyurethane suspension bushes (50mm lift) & new Firestone rear air suspension helpers. TJM snorkel.

Ja .... Very smart looking !! just a matter of ensuring the motor is good and strong. My mate is not a mechanically minded dude, so would prefer it if it is 100% sorted with all the NADS stuff before he takes a 3.0 diesel.

Cedric I believe that Patrol belongs to a forum member and I'm pretty sure it's the one in this post. I remember that front bumper from Maniacs. As far as I can remember all the issues were sorted in the end.

I think hes expecting too much, especially if I look at what he wants for the extras in the add.
If you consider there have been a couple of newer shape 4.8's 2005/6 around same price... and this with an engine thats had an overhaul!!

If your mate needs a vehicle to replace/ rival a prado, he's gonna have to do better than this cause a prado is probably the most well rounded, reliable, multipurpose vehicles in the world, and def the best all rounder to come out of Toyota Stable, better all rounder than even the cruisers.

I would love to see your mate in a patrol, but i reckon there's better examples out there than this.

Russ, it depends on what he gets out from the insurance, but around the R130k mark. He is going to look around a bit too but will see what he comes up with.

But yeah that is a bit pricey for a 2001. A motor rebuild may not be a bad thing, then the motor should be good ..... if done correctly !!

Ja,.. if done correctly... its just so often that they are not though... leaves me feeling very uncertain. i will keep a look out for him too.
