Cape Town...... I need some help !!
Posted: 09 Oct 2014 10:19
Ok .... When I was a young boy I was a Boy Scout at 1st Alberton and then at 1st Randhart. I used to love my Friday night out, learning loads of things like how to tie knots. I use many of the knots I learnt when I was 10 odd years old still today !!!
If you were a Boy Scout, or even, if I remember correctly the Afrikaans guys had the Voortrekkers, then you will understand why I'm asking you guys especially, or more specifically the guys in the Cape area for your help and assistance.
We ( the Nissan Off Road Club ) received an e-mail asking for assistance.... (
Dear Chairpersons,
The Boy Scouts are holding their bi-annual Senior Scout Adventure in the Cederberg from 12 to 23 December later this year. They expect to have over 500 boys and girls from all over South Africa and, in fact all over the world, participating in the event, which covers most of the Cederberg area.
They do have a problem with the transportation of the the scouts from the bus terminal in the Cederberg to and from their starting/final bases on the first and last days of the event as well as the delivery of supplies to the different bases where the scouts replenish their provisions during the course of the event. The transportation of scouts to and from the sickbay also requires vehicles during the event. The organisers hope to get 4 to 6 4X4 vehicles to assist them, either for the full duration of the event or even only for a few days, especially the first day and the last 2 days, and will provide the drivers with food and fuel, used in the Cederberg during the event, and if required a tent. There are 220V power points at the base camp where these helpers will be staying.
The Velddrif 4X4 Club has had 2 to 3 members helping the Scouts in the past and I also procured assistance through the AAWDC-Cape. However the latter has closed down and the helpers from the club are getting a bit old for this event and as a result I promised the Boy Scouts that I will send out this appeal for assistance to the 4x4 clubs in the Cape.
You are therefor kindly requested to forward this notice to your members. Anybody interested in helping or who want additional information before they decide to assist can contact Buzz Macey, the person responsible, at buzzy@telkomsa.net to sort out the details.
Thanks and regards

At the moment I'm not sure what dates I will be in the Cape to visit my folks, but I will make contact with them to see if I can let them know closer to the time, and maybe even be an stand in incase assistance is needed...... Hey its good to give back sometimes to the young kids.
Please contact Buzz Macey directly on the e-mail address given but also PLEASE put your names down here too, as it will be great to see how many vehicles we can get together.... EVEN IF ITS TO ASSIST FOR 1 OR 2 DAYS !!!
