Diesel motor

Ok ek weet ek gaan nou bietjie houe kry.
Enige idees is welkom.

I think a turbo'd 4.2 diesel on your almost pipecar....haha... will be very powerful. Your truck if I'm not mistaken is so light now, that the 4.2 with turbo will even do some magic on a sand dune.
If you can get an older TD42 motor ( silver top ) then you score bigtime.....BUT... thy also say that the black top TD42 motor can be turbo'ed but not a heavily as the silver top TD42 due to a few differences like oil squirters under the pistons and the bigger gudgeon pins on the pistons/con rod. The problem is that my TD42 ( black top ) already has the bigger gudgeon pins and the oil squirters as standard ( and so does Micheal and Andre here on the forum who just rebuilt one), so I'm assuming that Nissan brought in the 1998 and 1999 Patrol 4.2 diesel with this engine configuration ( possibly old stock motors?? )
To put a turbo on this motor may not be that much of a cost. If the motor is a runner, buy it !!!.... open it up and check all the specs. Generally everything should still be fine, maybe replace the rings.... use the TD27 rings cause they are exactly the same as TD42 ( even though I know you have contacts ), or replace the pistons and rings with Alfin ( or Keystone pistons and rings ), as these are better for turbo'd diesels, and for what you want to use the truck for. Bearings can be replaced too, and speak to FRrans (Tour de Frans) about cutting the cam..... makes BIG power difference apparently. The cost of these parts is not that bad. Its when you have to replace the head that the cost goes a bit wild !!
Slap some new injectors in ( about R450.00 each) and a Genuine Nissan Head Gasket, and find a recon turbo. As for injector pump, Frans will correct me if I'm wrong here, but seeing as this truck is a toy truck you can probably adjust the pump to overfuel for the amount of air that is being chucked in there by the turbo. Then a moerse 4" straight through exhaust pipe, and away you go !!

Theuhan,

Mannnnnnnnn -- ek verkrag sommer vir LOBO .. so lus raak ik nou ..
OX se nr: 071 343 9394 ... hy is hier in Benoni .. net ommi hoek .
