Wow Wow Wow

I am blown away. I've had my Patrol for 2 weeks now and have had to travel from Nelspruit to Jhb twice for meetings already. Suddenly its not a hardship to do this trip anymore. The vehicle just oozes power, comfort and luxury. Without a doubt this is an incredibly impressive vehicle.
I tested the boat towing ability last weekend with a quick trip up to a local dam. It just shrugged off some pretty nasty hills. In 3 weeks time I'm off to Bhanga Neck/Kosi Bay so will be able to comment on the soft sand ability which I have no doubt will be awesome.
This is one very happy Patrol owner.

There are a few big ski boat towers on this forum who can attest.
All of them happy of course.
Just pressure down enough and you will do circles around the other ski boat launchers on the beach

I'm sure it will Alex. As said elsewhere on this forum, I have had 5 Land Rover Defenders and they are not shabby offroad or on the beach, but I have no doubt this Patrol will run rings around them.

Hi Tony,
Our first experience in November 2012 at Kozi, towing our 21 ft Baronet, which is heavy, gave us some headaches when tryng to launch at the KZN Campsite, as the water level was only about 60 - 70 cm deep and this goes on for about 300 meters before it gradually gets deeper. There is no slipway, so you slide into the water. Our problems were further exacerbated by the fact that I did not have rollers at the time, and needed some real heavy support from the locals and others, and ultimately without success too. So we packed up and came home.
The second attempt a few months later was much easier, the water level had risen somewhat, and also the rollers made a huge difference. But still the water levels are shallow and flat, and we often got stuck in places (i.e. with the boat). So take a long pole. But once out between the lakes and through the channels - stunning!
So the lesson is your (beautiful) patrol is going to get fairly deep into the water from the bank side at the launch site, even though it is only 70 cm., and you may need some help - sometimes even a winch may help?
By the way, the ablutions are upgraded and very nice now.
Regards,
Chris

Thanks for that info and advise Chris, I'm hoping the break neck trailer will make it a bit easier. Fortunately my trailer is well balanced and once I pull the pin, only one person needs to stand on the rear steps and the boat rolls off very easily. From there on I hope the 70 cm might just be enough to float her cat hulls.
