Nissan Off Road Club - Kungweni 28th June 2014

Hi All,

On the events calendar there is a trail, which was done last year for the first time by the Club at Kungweni. There are a few people that have done this trail before and from the feedback, it seems as if this was enjoyed by everyone that went.

Lets start a list so I can see if we can get a better price like we did at Berakah last month.

Unfortunately I am in Mozambique that weekend, so cannot make this one.

FYI, there are 10 vehicles booked so far between this forum and the Nissan Off Road Club forum. There is still place for more if you still want to come along.
The price if under 10 vehicles is R 240.00 per vehicle, BUT if 10 and above they will give a 10% discount. ( R 216.00 ).

Like I mentioned earlier, I will be in Mozambique, but Vaughn has offered to run the day and assist. The Suzuki Club will also be there on the day, but couldn't find out what time they will arrive.

Program of events,

Arrive - 08:00 - 08:30 - Pay entry fee, start deflating tyres, have a hello to everyone, get the vehicle ready for the trail. Fill in Club Indemnity form and hand back to Vaughn
Briefing - 08:30 - 08:45 - Vaughn to go through driver briefing, safety and recovery procedures.
Head to start - 08:45 - 09:00 - drive to starting point of trail
Trail - 09:00 - ??? - Have fun and keep safe
??? - Finish - Crack open a cold one start a braai........ eat and enjoy !!

Please read through..... for your info

DRIVER BRIEFING
General
All indemnities signed;
No alcohol will be allowed before or during the drive-out;
No person will be allowed to travel on an open vehicle without a safety belt or in a standing position;
Adequate insurance on the vehicle;
Do your people know where you are and do you have contact with them?
Make sure that you understand hand signals when given by the group leader or guide;
Watch the vehicle behind you and ensure that you do not turn until he sees you;
Watch that the vehicle in front of you has safely cleared the obstacle and that there is adequate room for you to exit it;

Vehicle maintenance
Vehicle in good running order;
Tyres in roadworthy condition;
Battery terminals fastened;
Fire extinguisher – serviced;
Spare wheel;
Jack;
Wheel spanner;
Safety belts;
Hand brake;
1 litre of water for each person in the vehicle.

Recovery
ALL recoveries to be performed and/or controlled by the most experienced person which is to be arranged prior to driving the track/trail.


Basic equipment
Participants to bring own basic recovery equipment:
These are a pre-requisite:
Ground cover e.g. shade cloth
Gloves
Rated shackles (must be able to fit on your recovery points and be of correct rating for at least the weight of your vehicle)
Recovery points
Rated pull strap
Rated lanyard
Tyre pressure gauge
Basic medical kit
Basic tool kit
Basic air compressor for tyres

Advanced equipment
These are not a prerequisite but we are moving into that direction as we go along;
Recovery bridle
Rated snatch strap/rope
Recovery blanket
Tree trunk protector
Two way radio’s
Winch block
Working winch - either electrical or manual with accessories
High lift jack - with jacking points
High powered air compressor for tyres. When recovery situation is experienced the group leader takes charge;

Please can all participating vehicles drivers/owners download this Club indemnity form ( even if you are not a club member and will be driving ), complete it and bring it with you on the day. Please hand this in to Vaughn.
