Is your Patrol "chipped"

Post by Frans Reichert »

Who have done a chip on their Patrol?

Are you happy?

Did power increase?

How much?

Fuel use?

Will you recommend it?

What kind of chip do you have?

Frans

Standard Patrols are tuned as close to perfect as possible for the range of conditions you will encounter. With this comes reliability and versatile performance. Just make sure the state of standard tune is optimal.

There are other threads on this forum with many pro and against arguments and no clear answer.

Where vehicles are modified to improve one area of performance at the cost of overall competence , a chip can be valuable.
I have one vehicle that runs a tb45e engine off a tb42e engine management system and had to fit a chip and modify the tuning for optimal power and fuel consumption. This one works well , but my standard 4,8grx runs just as well and is compatible with standard Nissan diagnostic systems and settings.

Simply fitting a chip is also a myth. To get the benefit , it must be fine tuned on a dyno by an expert with a lot of patience. I can recommend Maus Performance near Rosslyn. I once watched for three hours while that 4.5 was run at all conceivable speeds and half a tank of fuel later it runs sweet.

Chris.

:naughty: Dit is n goeie idee!
Ek is n Dastek agent.
Terug by n 4.8. n Goeie uitlaat stelsel maak n groter verskil as n chip.
Die rekenaar is so geskryf.
