Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Good morning


Would like to know if any of you have replaced the seals on your disk brakes caliphers and piston dust boot. This is for the back disk brakes on a 1995GQ. Possibly the GU uses the same system?
My mechanic thinks the heavy smell from the left rear wheel is due to the caliphers not releasing correctly. He enquired from Spares Shop for the seal kit, which they do not keep – only agents. I was at Spares Shop Friday and we phoned Nissan, it took probably 10 minutes to explain to the Nissan guy what vehicle I have, that it is a 4.2 Petrol and he reckoned you do not get a 4.2petrol. I even gave them the VIN number, the engine number. Eventualy the cost was given R1650.00 for a kit which covers both rear disk brake caliphers.
My question ANYONE DONE THIS TO THEIR VEHICLE AND USED A NON NISSAN SEAL KIT?

The guy at Spares Shop said we must get out the seals so he can match up at the shop but I am hoping this exercise was done before by someone on this forum and he can steer me in the right direction.

Jules, it seems that Nissan only sells a seal kit comprising the piston seal, dust seal and slide pin boots. The kits for the Y60 and Y61 have different part numbers, so I am not sure whether any of the bits in the two kits are compatible.

For Y60:
Seal Kit, Disc Brake: 44120-05J25

For Y61:
Seal Kit, Disc Brake: 44120-VC025 or 44120-VC225

Julius, ek het my seels op al my calipers so 6 jaar terug vervang. Ek het ook 'n agter wiel gehad wat so bietjie begin ruik en ontsetlik warm geword het. Ek eht toe agtergekom die calipers was geroes en het vasgeknyp op die disc. Het almal, voor en agter uitgestrip en skoon geskuur, weer entjies geverf en toe al die seels by 'n clutch en brake plek gekry vir 'n fraksie van die koste wat Nissan wou he. Nissan het my ook hier by die R1100 gequote vir 'n stel seels en dan was dit nie eers al die seels nie.

Daar is 'n thread op Nissan4x4 oor wat ek alles gedoen het. Jy behoort 'n astel calipers op 'n Sterdag te kan strip, skoonmaak en weer terugsit. Die seels is beskikbaar, ek het op die ou ent omtrent R300 betaal vir al die seels voor en agter.
