Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I know this is quite a longish vid - but if you look through the whole video you just know why you have a Patrol. Superflex in comparison - and just as tough as it gets - I just love it - I somma wanna go for a drive right know !!! By far the more comfortable and superior vehicle !!

Ek is bevrees maar sien nie die "Superiority" in die video nie.
As die Jeep se 'handicap' (jaar model) in ag geneew word dink ek hy het die Patrol ore aan gesit.
My vorige 4x4 was 'n 2001 WJ Gran Cherokee enn nou het ek die Patrol so ek kan met beide assosieer.
Dit sou 'n beter toets gewees het as beide om en by 2000 jaar modelle was of as hulle die nuwe 2013/14 patrol teen die Jeep gesit het dan sou jy werklik die flex kon vergelyk.
Maar dit is soos jy se, dit maak 'n mens sommer lus om die pad te vat.
Niks so lekke soos 'n bietjie buite lewe en brute krag nie.

Riaan, Dit is dan seker 'n mate van opinie - in die video sien ek beslis die superiority - ek (en my annerhelfte) het al Jeeps gehad en vir my persoonlike opinie is hulle nie eers amper in die selfde klas nie (hang ook seker af waarvoor jy dit gebruik) - daar is absoluut geen manier wat ek alleen (wat ek 90% van my trips doen) met die Jeep sal aanpak wat ek met die Patrol doen nie - maak nou nie vir my saak van jaar modelle of watse fieterjasies nie. Die Patrol is net eenvoudig by verre die beste overlander en offroader as dit kom by endurance en gehardheid. Die enigste voertuig in my beskeie opinie wat met die Patrol vergelyk op alle terrreine is die Cruisers.

Jan, do you really think that that is true? I'm interested because the various issues raised on this forum by people having problems makes me wonder a little bit - though I suppose all machines do sometimes give trouble.

Imho I do think so but there is only one way to find out and that is to drive one for a very long time ......I think that nothing on the drivetain needs to be better ok mabe the factory locker
on the engines I love the patrol petrol engines they really do what they are build for ....lots of power low down and that works for me ......the 4.2 diesels are also great as grant cedric mr slang and bogey man ext .can tell you.
I like the 30l feul bill but is very scared at it breaking
all round when u do lots of stuff with a 4x4 like trails overlanding ext you would not beat a patrol
That jeep will not last 30% as long doing trails every day .but show me a better overlander at a better price that is more reliable in the long run wnd I wil change my mind

Well, I will say this for the Tjiep: It ended the day with pristine running boards, while the Trollie's took quite a beating. The Trollie seemed to bash it's bottom far more often in the beginning, when they were going down, but it was better when going up.

On the other hand, the trollie obviously has a lot more articulation and traction, it does far less damage to the trail and it was better able to keep a steady momentum through the obstacle, where the jeep was stopping, spinning, sliding sideways, throwing rocks around and then lurching forward. This has always been my major concern with traction control: it is always a reactive system, rather than a pro-active system.

Those horrible clicking sounds the jeep makes at anout 21-22 minutes: is that normal, or is it already broken?

Clem, anything can be broken. And while I have managed to break the odd bit of my Patrol, it is 17 years and 300 000 km old and has done some very tough trails and trips, with far less maintenance than it should have had. I am pretty sure I would have completely destroyed several examples of most other 4x4's had I attempted the same things with them, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.
