What a crap ride!
Thought I will share this just to add fuel to the all ready debated issues we have with some Nissan dealers. So I have to replace the Transfer main gear (http://nissan4u.com/parts/info/33113VB000/) of which a single dog gear broke off. I went to get a quote from Pupkewitz Nissan in Windhoek, after I struggled to get along with the two Herero parts assistants I thought it a better idea to see the manager. Very help full at first as I explained my problem wrt the gear that I need to replace. So he searched his site information and a diagram opened up showing only the expanded transfer case casing. Exactly the same as what you see on www.nissan4u.com. Now where is the gears. Well it is easy, if the gears dont show on the system then you have to replace the complete transfer case I was told. Why? "because they dont break". But they do like anything else can. You can however order the respective casing compartments. What is this rubbish all about. Just a week ago I requested a quote for two gears and promptly received the quote. There is a major difference between R3000 for a gear and R45000 for a new TC box. What a rip off dealer they are for the unaware person. He told me with taste how they replaced the entire TC for a customer a short while ago with similar problems as I. Besides that I asked him for an extract of the TC from their FSM. "No we dont have something like that" WTF!!! How do they service a vehicle like this. They are just as bad as their corrupt competition Ritters Toyota who managed to seize the engine after "they" worked on the alternator and forgot to fill up the radiator water. Why convince someone to pay R42000 more than need to. It is a bloody shame what you get these days in an agent. You may ask why ask for a quote again. The reason is that I found inconsistency in pricing same items. I asked for two quotes within a weeks time on fender flares. The two prices differed with R5000, a lot of money in my books to pay. The fact remain they are not worth their salt for stealing the engine cover, servicing the vehicle and denying that they did, not detecting an idling problem and the transfer case problem a 1000 kilometers back service and not coming to the table on an agreement for the bubble dash as a factory claim on a 2008 model.

Re: What a crap ride!
Totally agree - went to the local Nissan dealer to get some power steering fluid but they had no stock - Lady told me to hold on she will get some from the local Engen.
I have no problem with that but I know my Patrol requires DexronIII and the stuff she got is oinly Dexron2!
Wonder how many times your car gets topped up with non-spec fluids when servicing with the agents?
I know I will stick to servicing my car myself

Re: What a crap ride!
Seems you will get off lighter (on the pocket) purchasing a Jap Import box. Not sure they are available for the Patrol. I had a gearbox explode on me on the Sani and was quoted over 12K to rebuild plus labour after that. Got my hands on a box and transfer case for 4K and put it in just like that. Still going strong.
I still have that spare TX10 transfer case laying around somewhere, unfortunately the Patrol does not use that xfer case
