Yes but I am given to understand that the warranty is voided that if anything other than 50ppm is used in it. If that is correct, it is an interesting proposition.

Yes , so the D4D V8 has now finally been launched.
Also heard the rumour about the 50ppm diesel issue.
I was not ompressed by the power figures though , 150kw & 430nm , i expected more from that immense diesel.
Dare i say it , but i WAS considering buying the cruiser but i think i will be giving a step backwards and not forwards if I bought the LC.
My main concern has been my fuel bill on looooong trips.
I have now made peace with this issue.
During our last Bots trip 4,5 cruisers used between 14-16k worth of fuel, not towing.
I used 33K worth of fuel towing my loaded Explorer and a ton on the troll , in the back and on the roofrack.
I got a quote to turbo the 4.8 , +- 60K 270kw and +-650nm.
Low boost so to not suffer reliability and hopefully I will gain between 1-1,5 km/litre.
So this is the route I am going to go :mytwocents:

Turbo for 4.8 - Sounds awesome - who's doing it for you?
Keep us updated onteh progress!

Do you know of anyone else who may have done this?

I just might be keen too... :eureka:

So would I. That is not much more than the Nissan QD32ETI motor that has been around for many years in the over seas Terrano R50 and ElGrand

My goeie donder...that's what? About 2538 litres of fuel at R13/litre? At a "normal consumption" of say about 20 litres/100km that should enable you to do around 12,600km...more than enough to get from Cape to Cairo. In fact, even at 40 litres/100km you should be able to get at least 2/3rds of the way there. What am I missing?

"My goeie doner" that was my reaction when I totalled my fuel slips at the end of the trip.
We did +- 10 000km in total and 10% of that was low range 2nd gear. My 130L in my main and reserve tanks combined would only give me
280-300km @best.
My consumption worked out to 2,5-2,3 l/km :surprised:
33 full tanks of fuel. 4290 litres.
So you are not missing anything , she is just VERY thirsty , but still the best ride around
