Has anybody tried or have any experience with galvanizing steel rims?

No, but I have galvanised a number of other things, and I doubt I would try that on a rim.

Galvanising is pretty rough and would probably damage tires during fitting, and since it is a fairly high temperature process, I am also concerned about the rims buckling.

I will not galv my rims it gets dipped in a bath and goes on very uneven so n bitch to balance ect . We did it to boat rims that stayed on the beach but powercoating or good paint will be better . You could not tow the boat fast

I have 4 x Galvanised rims on my boat trailer - no problems!
They look like the white smiths wheels mags.
I think balancing could be the only issue - but on a boat trailer this is not critical.
The galvanised rims are the only thing that lasts long term when rims are regularly getting covered by sea water.
