It looks like the only engine available there in the new model is a 5.6l V8 petrol.

Dont know about selling it here although I read somewhere that we could see it here.
I read an article on the Australians view on the new model, dont seem to like it in the looks department, engine option is only the 5.6 V8 and no DIESEL for now. Apparently they will keep on building the Y61 model for those that want an alternative option.
My take on this is that if you want the limousine 4x4 you will buy the new MODEL if you can afford it. Want a seriously tough 4x4, buy the Y61 and if you want better fuel consumption the Diesel will still be available. Down side is that they are not working on a new Diesel for the Patrol.
Rumours has it that the V9X will make its way into the new Patrol if they go that route.
This new model was designed around the Arabians, they want power and they want them thirsty!!!

There is currently one new model in South Africa at Nissan. It will eventualy be moved to a dealer. I have one of the brochures. It seems that they might bring in the new Patrol in two specs. The luxury SE and base LE model. Nice V8 with 237KW and 526Nm. Ground clearance 275mm.
It is an ugly thing.
Too much creature comforts. Went the Range Rover and Lexus way.
Who would dare take such a vehicle through the Congo?
The breed of simple and tough overlanding machines is dying out.
The Y61 will, in time, become known as the last of the thoroughbred Patrols (alongside the 70 Cruisers and Defenders).
The Y61 will continue to be made in Australia, but no future R&D will happen and the Solid Front Axle vehicle ranges will eventually die out.
A very sad day indeed...

I cannot say I am a fan! The back is sooooo ugly!
Also, it's all electronics, so we cant talk poorly about the electronics of our rivals. I bet that any of our Patrols would do that hill easily.

I've seen quite a few of these in Lagos - and expect one with the infinity badge to come out soon (if it hasnt already). It's huge, powerful and imho quite awesome.
The way Africa is developing these days, the only place where SFA vehicles will be needed IS the Congo...

I definitely don't like it - it's "a lelike ding daai" (Ugly) !!!
Will not ever be interested in owning something like that.
