Hi Guys

Please help

Firstly, what is OME?
Secondly, I have a standard suspension on my 2001 Nissan Patrol 4500 GRX. I woudl like to in the future upgrade to a 50mm lift (Not sure if a 50mm lift shock can be fitted with standard springs), but due to money contraints currently and the need to change my shocks, I was wondering what standard shock brands you recommend?
1. Koni
2. Monroe
3. Gabriel
4. Other? (Contacted Bilstein - nothing for my vehicle)

And as per above, which model?

Seen the following, not sure they are worth it or if there are better models?
1. Gabriel® Safari HDP™ Gas Shocks
2. Monroe Max-Air® Shock Absorbers: Air Adjustable Shocks
3. Koni Riad (Heavy Track)

Thank you

Hi All

So today I spoke to Ted at Bilstein (012 661 5808). He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. If you ever need advise for Bilstein products, please give him a call. Another helpful gentleman was Maxim. He is a distributor for Bilstein and situated in Randburg - 11 Huguenot Ave - 0861 887 888.

I was quoted R 1152.00 excl VAT per shock which is very reasonable.

However, Bilstein dont have a 50mm (2 inch) lift shock in the country, nor do they have coils for a 50mm lift. They will however try and source from the States.

For now, I am buying a secondhand pair of 4.8 shocks and coils with about 30K on them. - Budget is tight.

Hi All

My new - 2nd hand shocks!

I managed to get a set of shocks and coils with about 30K on them for R 2000. Fitted today! - ride is soooo much better! When I get some spare cash, will upgrade, for now, it is safer and more comfortable.

Front old springs were much longer, whilst the rear new springs were about 1/2 inch longer
