Inserts on VX Cruiser

Hello

Before the Patrol I owned a Cruiser and every now and again I browse on the LCCSA forum. (I apologize, it is not a issue of loyalty to the brand)

One of their members did some work on a 105 VX and the interior work that he did caught my eye, but I have no idea what it is that he is using to cover the panels on the inside.

I copied some photo's for your interest and if someone can perhaps tell me what he is using. :helpsign:

Regards

Its a stick on carbon fibre sheet , for even a better finish go to guys like Frozen sky - they do a 3d hydro print - looks tonnes better than the normal sticker

This has given me an idea.....

I have yet to see a Patrol (1998 to 2003/4 ) that has an ashtray lid that still has all its colour "paint" on the thumb tag that allows you to lift the lid.

I wonder how it would look to recover the whole console in something like this !!!

I lately came across guys in PTA East that paint items (including this carbon fibre look).
The items they displayed ranged from helmets to dash trim.
If there are interests I can get their name and contact detail.

Had some trim pieces done on a colt bakkie for a friend was a tad over R2000 for about 6 pieces - you can google Frozen Sky they do the 3d hydro printing method which also has a clearcoat painted over it and lasts a lot longer , there is a place called Panther Audio in Voortrekker road PTA that also does same thing

The carbon fibre sticker can be bought form almost any motorsport shop and you cut and stick that on yourself for under R200 a sheet

Thanx Dirko

Waardeer, ek dink my Patrol gaan bietjie van daardie Carbon velletjies aantrek. Sal bietjie vandag hier by BigBoss Auto in Alberton gaan hoor.

Ek het bietjie daar by Frozen Cloud gaan kyk, bietjie te "pimp" vir my smaak, veral op die gewere, maar dis baie goed gedoen.

Thanks bud!!

I phoned them and had a chat. The concern I had was UV resistance. I'm told it is basically like automotive paint so, should be pretty good. I asked for a ball park figure to do the center console where the ashtray sits on my Patrol ( not including the armrest part with the storage box. It will cost around R500 to do that with any type of pattern, or if you want just a solid colour ( no Pattern ), the cost is almost halved.

This is not bad I think. Maybe if we get a few guys together, we can negotiate a better deal.

I would like to do all 4 door handles, ashtray center console and armrest console at the moment. I will have to wait a bit first though........ busy revamping a bathroom at home ( damn expensive operation   )
