G-Man had a set of internals in his shop a few months ago, I don't know if they are still there?

I still have the insides of my Nissan diff too, but the locker mechanism is completely stuffed...

Personally, I would not go through the hassle of trying to fix a broken Nissan locker again, not even if I won the lotto. It is simply not cost-effective to repair. Ater nearly three years of hassles with an unreliable locker I had really had enough...

Firstly, scrap-yards do not teem with Patrols so it may be a long search. If you're lucky enough to get one, you may well be charged nearly the same as the purchase price of a new ARB. Then you'll be the proud owner of a 2nd-hand item that's known to be "sensitive" (there - that's gently put and shoudn't offend anyone?). Not much sense in that, is there? :mytwocents:

Approaching Nissan for assistance is just as troublesome. You could buy a 2nd-hand Patrol for less money than to get a new locker from Nissan! And replacing just broken bits is also a scary thought - there's a post on this forum where someone waited many, many months before Nissan eventually delivered the correct parts for his broken locker. The only reason he stuck with it is because his vehicle was under guarantee...

My take is this: for R17k including labour (YMMV, depends on how well you can twist arms), you'll get the following from ARB:
  • Complete new diff mechanism - very nice to have if your vehicle has high kms
  • A proper locker that actuates & releases almost instantly
  • A decent tyre inflator, coiled hose, all manner of fittings, etc. (the above price includes an inflator kit)
Yes, it is expensive if you just look at the number on its own. But I still think it's the bargain of the year for what you get in return!

PS: The usual disclaimers apply: I don't work for ARB, do not have relatives from Oz, don't own a fitment place, don't particularly like sheep, etc.

I've received the same advise the first time I started investigating locker possibilities - The Patrol does not have a lot of weaknesses, but I have heard from several sources that the locker unfortunately is one of them - I know that if engaged it will not easily break - given the fact that it is broken I agree to rather fit a ARB that has less troublesome issues if installed correctly.

Thanks for the advise all - I'll save some "time" and once affordable, install the ARB!

Cheers
