Jou kar se totaal mag nie meer as 5600 kg wees nie en 1800kg op die agterste as die GQ se plate is die helte verkeerd gedruk by Nissan ky op een van my ou pos daar het ek klomp drama gehaat by n skaal

The problem is that there are effectively two rules that apply.

AFAIK The road traffic act allows for a maximum trailer gross weight not exceeding the vehicle Tare mass. On the GQ that would mean that the trailer gross mass may not exceed 2160kg, as that is the published Tare (on my windscreen sticker anyway).

However, the vehicle manufacturer will have their own published limit. This is usually more than the legal limit, except with Toyotas.

However, as Duckit says, you have to keep in mind that there is also a legal limit on the axle masses (determined by Nissan and stamped on the VIN plate) which may not be exceeded.

Please also note that the above is only valid for braked trailers, unbraked trailers are limited to 750kg.

According to Nissan agents here in Empangeni I can tow up to 3tons braked with my 4.2 Patrol

Jules, that is fine for the Patrol, but that will not be legal.
