Superflex Radius Arm

Well I finally got around to designing a radius arm similar to what Superior Engineering offer down in Aus. I had the radius arm water jet cut from 32mm 300WA plate and the brackets cut from 10mm plate. The sleeves for the bushes will be machined and welded to the radius as soon as I have a set of nissan bushes and can confirm the dimensions exactly. Hopefully I will have it together in the next couple of weeks. I wish I could find a ramp nearby so I can post before and after pictures. Let's hope my measurements were accurate.

You guys are welcome to the drawings if it all works out. I don't have any desire to make money from it.

Lets us know if it all works out , my laser cutting guys says he can cut them if he has the drawings

It was really annoying to learn that the slotted radius arm bushes from Nissan are twice the price of the solid units. They are identical in all respects besides the slot cast into the rubber. Daylight robbery!

Adrian,
As Driko said. keep me in the loop as I would love a set. Good luck.

Daylight robbery: Is that not Nissan Parts' middle name?

I'm feeling a lot poorer after ordering a complete set of bushes for the front suspension of my patrol. The final machining, welding and electro-plating on the new radius arm should be completed early next week which will coincide with the delivery of the new bushes.
I order two slotted bushes and two solid bushes. I thought I would install the slotted bushes on the standard radius arm on the drivers side and the solid bushes on the modified radius arm on the passenger side. I read that slotted bushes on the superflex arm do not last very long. The reasoning for slotted bushes on the standard radius arm is reduce the stiffness of this arm and in so doing hopefully move some of the braking torque into the modified radius arm. If the modified radius arm had no stiffness, all the braking and accelerating torque from the passenger wheel would be transmitted through the axle to the drivers side radius arm. This is obviously not desirable as it was never designed like this. Do you guys agree with this reasoning? I'll post pics showing the flex next weekend.

Agree with the concept.
Personally I intend using Supaflex arms both sides, so that I can use plates to also do the castor correction for the lift. So I think I will use solid bushes throughout?

Tomorrow is the big day. Hopefully everything goes according to plan.
