Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi. Want to by new tyres,looking at km2. Need some info on how they perform offroad,sand,rock,mud etc ?

Morne has them on his cruiser and we were trying them out yesterday and he is smiling, smiling, smiling . So yes they will become a hit with cruiser and Patrols. He tried them on sand only , we will wait for other reports on rock and mud. But with BFG reputation i think they will be great there as well.

I will need to buy towards the end of the year and am very interested in the KM2. Price difference betweeen AT and MT is negligible.

The namibians have been travelling on MT's for years now as the AT compound is too hard and the stones rip junks out of the tyres.
The MT is a apparently a softer compund and together with the tread pattern it lasts a lot longer than an AT in Namibia.

What I need to know is how much louder and more intrusive will the noise from the MT tread pattern be? My Patrol will do quite a bit of overlanding - long hours per day, so I need a tyre that will not "sing" me to sleep!

Ian,how does Morne rate the KM2 in the sand?

Hi Saltman, Morne, myself ,Allan vs and Andre Nissan4x4 webmaster were in the dunes on Saturday, The sand was quite firm due to the rain, but you could see Morne s cruiser made the dunes look like a freeway and Morne isnt shy where he goes, he pushes to the limits and isnt affraid of getting stuck. He also speaks with experience and authoruty on this stuff and he is blown away so far from the benifits of this tyre. I dont think he has had a chance to try it on rock and mud yet, but its BFG it has a pedigree

KM 2 vs MAXXIS BIGHORN?

I run on the KM2' now, miles better then the old BF Mub.
Rock, sand, mud - I saw a huge improvement in traction.

I believe there is no km2's available till Desember 2009 Is this true?

Although the BFG KM2 looks the deal, i would still tend to lean towards the Maxixs bighorns, local rep Jon , is friendly, helpfull and always has stock. They are also superb on sand and rock and 30% cheaper as well..................Also 3 ply side wall.........
