Vra bietjie warmte, samblief Meneer

We are undertaking an Outreach to the Bushmen of Ranyane and Xanagas in Botswana and the target is 5-Tonnes (FIVE tonnes) of clothing.

The Kalahari / Kgalakgadi winters are harsh and they have nothing to fall back on except your goodwill and open heart. The only jobs in the area are cattle herder. The pay is ONE meal per day and one cow PER YEAR.

But it is the children that suffer most. Minus 6c and colder nights - it's not fun ...

Dates for the outreach - if you want to join us: 22 April to 06 May 2011. (Chances are that we will return earlier as there is another team going to Sepopa Mission).

The 22nd April will be our “packing” day where we will load the clothes into and onto our vehicles. We depart in the early hors of 23rd April [the group will decide the time].
Accommodation can be arranged for those of you further away from Pretoria.

We depart from NG Church: Pretoria-Garsfontein
285 Emmie Hartmann Street
GARSFONTEIN
Pretoria East.

We need you. We need your 4x4. They need you 'being there' and showing that you care.

Kannie gannie? Maak dan asseblief 'n las of bydrae vir die wat graag wil, maar dit nie kan bybring nie. (TRANSLATION: If you can't go with us, please make a contribution in support of those that want to go but can't afford it).

Wanna know more? e-mail me at Xanagas(dot)alive (at) gmail(dot) com.

By voorbaat dankie almal (manne & maninne)
Thanking you kindly (guys & girls)

May the Road rise to meet you,
May the Wind be at your back,
May the Sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall softly upon your fields. Until we meet may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

Directions to Heaven:
Turn right ... keep straight.

BOTSWANA

Strike to close borders
Border posts are to be targeted in a public sector strike expected to paralyse services during the Easter holidays.
The strike is set to begin on the 18 April and end on the 29th.
Publicity Secretary of the Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU), Goretetse Kekgonegile said the main targets were the Ramokgwebana, Ramatlabama, Tlokweng and Martin’s Drift border posts.
“We want to withdraw labour from all the border posts,” Mr Kekgonegile said.
“This will impact negatively on the Government as there will be no people arriving or leaving the country.”
After the 10-day strike, union leaders are to discuss the way forward and if the employer did not bring any offer, they were likely to embark on a go-slow.
Secretary General of BOFEPUSU, Andrew Motsamai said during the 48 hours notice to go on industrial action the unions, the employers, and a mediator would meet to discuss the rules and conduct of the strike, issues of essential services and skeleton staff.
“Should the employer engage security agents to fire rubber bullets at us, we will be ready,” Mr Motsamai said.
“The industrial action will be so massive, Botswana will never be the same again.” National negotiator of the Botswana Secondary Schools Teachers Union, Tobokani Nicholas Rari said it was important for workers to realise the employer could apply the no-work-no-pay principle for the days that workers were on a strike.
“This is legal, however we need to sacrifice in order to be part of this historic event,” Mr Rari said
