Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi guys, just a quick question regarding the above vehicle?

When in tiptronic you accellerate through to any gear and then come to a stop. The display on the dash does not go back to first gear and when you accelerrate again with the gear lever still in tiptronic the gearbox is now in automatic, and stays in auto.

Anybody have a clue what could be the problem? and would it cost a small swiss bank to repair?

I am looking at purchasing this vehicle at the moment from a dealer, so they have taken it into the workshop and have plugged it in and I am now waiting for their feedback.
But I wanted to do some research myself and see if its a common recurring issue or perhaps a faulty sender etc..

Nissan are saying it is a standard thing for the box and dash to do this...

Apparantly it is for assistance in towing up a hill and when accellarating with a load you can slide the lever over and then hold the gears manually at a low throttle position.
