Groot Marico day trip - Patrol hunting in the mud!!

With the heavy rains recently, I could not resist a trip offroad when at Groot Marico viewing another Patrol (the one that is now in my driveway!!)
Nothing can stop a Patrol, except perhaps a giant iceberg, and of course once in a while the odd swambo... I ended up recovering 2 vehicles (toyota tazz fully laden with local and a nissa hardbody hopelessly stuck).
Ive decided that my dream job is to drive around in my Patrol looking for people who need recovering
Some pics attached!

- Road conditions - there was an 18 wheeler up ahead that I couldnt recover : )

Lekkerrr!
Ek hou van die recovery haak wat agter aan jou wa is/was. Het jy miskien 'n mooi close-up foto daarvan?

My afrikaans is a little faulty but I think you wanted a close up of the recovery hitch?

Stefan resting on the top piece of the hitch is a t-shaped leaver (you can see the head in the pic).
The diagram of the manual says (and I'm telling you what the manual says because I myself couldnt get it to work

) that standing facing the back doors you pull the lever towards you (sort of between your index and middle fingers) which then allows you to lift the top piece and place the recovery rope over the bottom piece before closing.
I dont think the recovery hitch was ever used because it was stuck down properly... either that or I was doing it completely wrong!
I think these recovery hitches came standard on the GQ, and they definitely look the part!
Mayhem - I can't help it.... all I know is that when the whole family takes the 2 patrols on holiday I'm not driving in front !!!

Thanks Dave, I think I understand.
Can't agree with Dennis though - nothing wrong with a tasteful shot from behind
