Buying new Patrol (Rear Diff Lock Questions)

I am interested to find out if a new Patrol comes with a factory fitted difflock.
The other question, if some do, is it the petrol or diesel or what model.
I have never owned one so it would be nice to know.
The main reason why i asked, is that i saw Johns patrol stuck in a puddel. If he had lockers would he have driven out.

Cheers Ian

Don't let driver stupidity be a reflection of his vehicle

No, firstly, I didn't get stuck! The vehicle just ran out of air - see extract below from brochure:
Wade through 700mm of water.
It was a 1.2m, only for a second though, but enough to take in water - at no point did I lose traction - Yes a snokel is on my wish list :blonde:

To answer your question, all new models (TD3.0GL, 4.8GL and GRX - mine) come with rear diff lock.

Abri. hi there. the reason why i asked is the Cruiser issue, some of them dont come out with difflocks. Did your Cruiser have a difflock ??

As far as I know all SA spec Y60 and Y61 (1998 to current) Patrols have a vacuum operated rear axle diff lock.

In terms of comparable Cruisers the local picture is as follows:
The SA spec 80 Series GX Cruisers had no axle diff locks, the Aussie spec 80 Series GXL had a rear limited slip diff, some 80 Series VXs have front and rear diff locks, the SA spec 100 Series GX Cruisers had front and rear axle diff locks and the SA spec 100 Series VX had a rear axle diff lock unless ordered with electronic traction control and stability control.

Hi Gerrit, would it be the Gearmax difflock or do you think Nissan fits the ARB make as factory spec.

Hi Ian.

No the axles and rear diff lock on the Patrol are all genuine Nissan bits. Patrols are fully imported and therefore they don't use the locally made Gearmax diffs like many locally made bakkies do.

The Patrol's diff lock is actuated by vacuum like the Gearmax diff lock and not by positive pressure like the ARB locker or the Pajero's diff lock.

Ian as Gerrit said, all local 105 series Cruisers have lockers front and rear from the factory. So yes mine had lockers front and rear.
My 94 Patrol has a factory locker in the rear and in time will have a ARB up front (somewhere in the future once I've completed the air suspension and a few other bits)
