We drove the Klein Letaba and Molototsi Rivers over the past long weekend, we started in the KLein Letaba and finished in the Molototsi River. Spending two nights in each river. We were 4x vehicles and 6 men.
On Saturday evening, camping between the "Rots Tuin" and Salt mine, 2 of the 4 were robbed somewhere during the night. Stolen items included a compressor, gas stoves, beers and food, including our left over braai meat and braai bakke and some other camping equipment, stolen items from one vehicle amounted to close to R10 000. Vehicles were parked in close proximity to each other, with some guys sleeping in roof top tents, others outside on stretchers and some in ground tents, no one heard or saw anything, these guys were in serious stealth mode. Luckily, no one was hurt in the process.
I've been doing the Molototsi since 2013 and the Klein Letaba for about 5 years now, and have never had a problem.
I'd thought I'd post this here as a friendly reminder to be safe and keep an eye out, you never know
