Howzit everyone

Just got a 2015 patrol with a 3.0crd, so excited

Just wondering if anyone has recommendations of where I can get it checked out at? Finding a bit of black smoke when changing gears or pushing the beast. Other issue is there seems to be a slight loss of power in 3rd gear at about 2000 rpm if I’m light on the throttle

Any recommendations for a good shop/mechanice would be appreciated

I’ve got a NP300 2.5, since 2017 and a jeep kk 2.8crd, no problems what soever, hope the patrol can be the sa

Thanks

Welcome Ronald

I don't know of anybody down there who specializes in that engine, but for general work (and a much better idea of who does what down there) get hol of Gerhard at G_Tech in Fishoek.

Hi Ronald, welcome to Patrolling! Congrats on your new ride!

I also have a CRD - 2014 model, see here: viewtopic.php?t=8944

There should be a bit of smoke under load, but it shouldn't be excessive. Not sure about the Cape Town mechanics as I'm in Joburg. There is an active Western Cape Whatsapp group, I'm sure someone on here will let you know how to join.

The power loss at 2000 rpm is the boost control kicking in. There are ways around it, a lot of Aussies fit a Tillex valve to control the boost and that seems to help. I have just learnt to drive around it for now till I can get it sorted.

I'm sure you will love the Patrol and being part of the Patrol community - great bunch of guys!
