Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I had a "death wobble" on my Safari around 80km/h and at Hi-Q the guy said that my rims are buckled. I then found a place in Alrode that fixes steel rims and when he tested the wheels he found that the tyres went oblong. This I can understand as the vehicle stands for long periods and the tyres gets a "flat spot". I had the wheels sort of rebalanced (with a lot of weights) and the other day it started again so I inflated the front tyres to 3bar and the wobble went away. Before I park the Safari I now make sure the tyres are inflated to about 3 bar.

Could you post the details of the company that fixes the rims please.

Carel, best practice in a situation like that is to jack the vehicle up and let it stand on trestles so the wheels are off the ground.

It is Hi-Tech mag repairs in Alrode 011 900 1341. A steel rim can only be repaired to a certain extend and I was looking for someone that can straighten the buckled rims and with the enquiry I made on their website, I understood that they could help me. The salesman showed me that the rims are about 1mm out of line but the culprit was the tyres. These guys seem to be experts with mag rims.

I've also seen "tyre shoes" or something like that advertised. Basically a set of blocks you drive tye car onto and then the tyre rests in a semi-circular cutout instead of a flat surface, which is then supposed to prevent flat spots. Can't be too difficult to make up a set.
