My Thrustbearing started humming at me a short wile ago. Thought I should start getting some quotes.
Quote on Clutch kit only: Steve's Auto Clinic (SAC) R4,5k - Total price R10,5k
Nissan: R5,5k - Total price R12,5k.
I since had the Alternator bearings replaced and something went wrong so now I am told to get a new Alternator from Nissan as there are no more replacement parts available - R17k. Not a single one available in SA! Someone can apparantly fix it for R5k. It is going to be a loooong month!

Hi Johan
Hier is n link na manne wat al alternators vervang het. Lyk my hulle het weggekom teen R2000 vir n nuwe 1.

Quick update on the alternator. The cause of the failure was diagnosed by the Auto electitian to be the loose connector plug that plugs into the alternator. As SAC fitted the alternator after the recon, I pointed this out to them and they then agreed to foot the bill. Happy to say that it is now working and I am mobile again. And the thrust bearing........? Somehow went all quiet during the alternator scramble.
Hopie di die stilte voor die storm nie! At least this gives me time to shop around.

Thanks rickster for the link. Very interesting and I will bear this in mind if there is even the slightest hint of problems on this alternator.
