Dirk, Carel..... don't stress my friend..... one thing I can promise you.... us Patrol and Nissan guys leave our egos at home when it comes to 4x4'ing.... We will ALWAYS be willing to help and assist. I think I'm a fairly good driver.... but have also taken chicken routes before, and NEVER has ANYONE from the Nissan Club or Patrol Forum ever given me a hard time or made me feel incompetent.

BUT ..... I have said this many times before on the forums.... A Patrol, irrespective of Y60 or Y 61 does make one a lazy driver. Ok with the GQ's with limited slip diffs, it is a little more difficult, but very often, Grant, Christo and myself, try take the most difficult line and you cannot believe how forgiving the Patrol is. A few months ago, at Hennops, my brother in law, who has never driven my Patrol, and had virtually no 4x4 experience, took my Iron Maiden up a rocky steep incline that even Driko ( Grootseun ) had minor issues with ( VIVA 4.2 diesel ......   ), and he could not believe how easily he made it up without incident.

So in short..... Remember, believe in your Patrol..... She will forgive you and even help you grow confidence to feel how 3 tons of power can skate over obstacles like an ice skater over ice. The first few obstacles will possibly cause your boxer shorts to evolve into a g-string...... but you will look back afterwards and VERY proudly say " Now that wasn't so bad "

Afterwards we will sit back, over a beer and have a few laughs about the shaking hands and kneecaps..... :rolling: :rolling:

Dirk,

Like Cedric has said, the Patrol is probably the most underestimated 4x4 in South Africa :oldtimer: :oldtimer: . Even in your standard trim you will go where we go :oldtimer: . Get a few “calmers” and you will be surprised where and what that Patrol can do. You initially will chicken out before the Troll's limits are reached. The Nissan guys are only supportive so try what you feel comfortable with and ask for assistance.

Not worried about the Patrol more about myself as I do not know the car.

Have done De Wildt, Hennops, Hennops pride, Bosvark, Barakah, Gerotek and so on, so not a total newbie at this, its more woried that everything is working as it should and to get use to the bigger vehicle, remember I spend 98% of my time on a bike so do not use any car that often.

Herewith the latest Grouping and travel order.

We have unfortunately lost one member for the Gerotek day due to unforeseen circumstances, but then we gained another participant. Welcome Traveler.
Only Group C have changed.
The full order is attached. No insult to anybody, but we have chaged the order a little to make the order more balanced.
Sorry that you have to do yet another download.
Gerotek order of Groups as on 8 Nov 12.xls
(38 KiB) Downloaded 126 times
We will probably see more changes, but I have to fix everything on Sunday 11 Nov 12 as I will be out of town from 12 to 16 Nov 12 without any decent internet access. Therefore the final arrangement will be sent to Gerotek by mid-day on 11 Nov 12.

Yours Aye!! :salute:

I need space in a Patrol for two persons on 17 Nov.

This guy, Danie Terblanche (and wife) was instrumental in helping me to set up the Gerotek Day. Without his assistance I would probably not have been able to set up the day. He has also become very interestest in the 4x4 world and I would like to introduce him the the Patrol forum members.

If somebody could oblidge it would be much appreciated.

I am all on my own - they're welcome to tag along with Chuck Norris if they want!

PS: I can't assist with contact details for Peet Oosthuisen as he isn't a club member :naughty:
