Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I did not take any pictures during the installation. It was a quick Saturday afternoons work.(Max 3 hours) I will take a photpo of the completed product and post it here.

G-Man, what is the status of the radio now, has someone bought it or have you still got it. If you still have it I am interested. PM me your number, I am just in Angola at the moment and will give you a call when I get back which should hopefully be before the end of the week.

The site and diagram will help, and give you some idea of the colour codes. The plug in the radio has already converted some of the colours. The best place to check the wiring is one plug back from the radio's own power/speaker plug. Nissans radio's also do not have the standard airial fitting, but mine came with the converter.

Just a quick question please - what is all this fuzz about installing one of these DVD,CD,RADIO,GPS and Coffe maker units?? Please explain to me.

I have a dvd player in my car with a 7" screen - (same size as a normal car radio - the screen slides out and tilt up) - and connect to this is 2 loose screens (also 7") that straps around the front headrests. And that's it - I have a Nuvi 500 gps unit and thus makes my life easy for software and map upgrades as I just take the gps unit out, connect it to my pc and bob's your uncle. It also makes downloads and uploads of route planning done on your pc in mapsource extremely easy. And should I decide to buy another patrol or sell mine I just take the dvd unit out - plug the old nissan radio back and its all working again. And I have a dvd system for my next patrol again.

So yes this blondie does not understand all the huff and puff about these fancy and fairly expensive units - and from what I have heard not always very user friendly. Is it just to have a less clustered dashboard - in example - minus one gps unit on the dash???

OK Bought the unit from G-Man. Took less that an hour to install. The older patrols have the same plug. Only the ACC and illumination wires are the wrong way round.
Abri, this one runs off wince ver5.0, but I am struggling to find where I can buy the garmap mobile xt. Anyone have any ideas???

Alvan, I will speak with my boet and hear how to do it. A colleague installed one in his GTi and is using Tomtom with 'n few minor issues like time that defaults to Singapore and directions like someone who "hakkels". Other than that it works perfectly.

Please give us some pictures. Did you have to cut or modify any of the dash panels or components. My 2000 model has got a solid piece of plastic above the radio and the holder. So I don't know if that unit will fit in that console. Please gooi some pics.

Tjaart, I also had the split dash, but Dennis had the dash with the big hole in. I am not sure which models had which. If you have the split dash and you cut, the hole is going to be too big.
