Yup - and to clarify, i meant that by the time i actually get to retirement, i'd probably have to consider a 4.8 seeing as the 4.2s and 4.5s would be >40 years old by then

the 4.8 hauls ass and sucks gas Ha ha   . I get 5-6kms/lt fully loaded with roof top tent and roofrack loaded with jerry cans etc ( open roads at 110-120km/hr) . just recently I did a trip to the south coast pulling an Echo 4 offroad trailer and averaged 5.3kms/lt , it doesn't seem to make much different if towing or not. its just an amazing vehicle that goes anywhere.
out of interest , I met an old couple travelling through Namibia, who were retired, they had a landcruiser 4.2d bakkie with an alu canopyand he was complaining that at 110kms/per hour ( he couldn't do 120 unless down hill) he was getting 5-kms/lt.
I say 4.8 forever

My Trol is wearing Hankook RF10's. They are good onroad and in dry off road conditions. I'm not convinced they're good in mud. Will find out in Lesotho in Apr 12.

I'm 8 years from retirement and already have the best retirement vehicle - 4500E GRX - and to h&ll with the fuel consumption. It's the fun we're after.

Hallo almal

Ry tans 2007 Navara DCi 2.5 4x4 wat ek nuut gekoop het.
Sleep partymaal die Explorer ander kere moet die laaie en die "bollie" tent hulle ding doen.

Oorweeg 'n 2de handse Patrol 4.8 outomaties of soortgelyke Prado voor ek 'n nuwe 140kW Navara outomaties (is nou moeg vir handratte) of selfs die V9X teen R525 000 aanskaf.

Julle kommentaar was baie waardevol.
Dankie.
