I sometimes wonder about Nissan... Is the middle east really such a big market that it pays to develop a car like the new Patrol specifically for this market? I doubt they will sell it anywhere else, except perhaps a few in the USA?

Anyway, to get on subject, anybody with a interest in the Patrol will be welcome, no matter what he drives, but the ultimate aim would be to get as many as possible Patrols together, and if possible get it reported by at least Leisure Wheels, SA4x4 and WegRy?

Maybe we can get Leisure wheels at the JHB event and SA4x4 at the Cape event? Gerrie how's with a trip to KZN?
Interesting question. I suspect that the European market for full-size 4x4s is pretty small, anyway, and getting any vehicle emissions certified in the EU is a right pain.

My guess is that maybe Nissan is hoping that the US market will take off. Americans (and Arabs) love big SUVs, the bigger the better. (In fact, a Patrol is not especially large by American standards. More a "mid-size.") And as far as I can tell, the new Y62 Patrol is aimed squarely at the bigger, gaudier, flashier, more gadget-laden end of the market.

Like you, I also sometimes wonder what Mr. Nissan is thinking, or whether he is thinking at all.

I think we must decide on the date and organize the whole thing our selves and if we can get Nissan SA to join us it will be a bonus

We are the best Patrol supporters so we will organize the best event.

I'm busy searching through a lot of 4x4 magazines for any article on a Patrol and I'm planning to make up a "Patrol Document"

Nissan SA just phoned me to tell me that they will support the Nissan4x4 Club in organizing the 60th Patrol Birthday at the 3 Provences 4x4 trail near Volksrust. :woo: :woo:

They need to know how many Patrols will join us for the weekend, so please let me know who will join us for the weekend.
