(I run 285's on my N/A TD42 - original tyres i ran, Nissan Spec - 235x85x16)
I take it that the difference you feel will be in the form of less acceleration/hill-climbing ability? Considering 235/85 16 myself.

Strangely not really in the acceleration (although the TD42 doesn't ever accelerate, it gathers speed!). First gear in my truck is very short and powerful, and most of my take offs from traffic lights etc are in 2nd gear.

Hills is where you'll feel it, and trying to pass a truck quickly when on the open road after slowing down behind it.

My truck cruises easily at 130km/h with no worries (although i usually drive around 115-120km/h open road), and regular gradients don;t affect it too much, but the tyres do make a slight difference, and will also increase fuel consumption ever so slightly.
