I have just chatted to Betsie

Standard price is R250 per vehicle.
If we want Alex (Fullard) to guide us, that would be R350 per vehicle (he is also a willing passenger-guide / co-driver, if you want to drive up Koos-se-klim)
Without him guiding, we get a map. Christo has done it with the map alone and may be able to comment on whether that works (they got lost, if I recall).
I have been there twice with Alex guiding, and that was definitely worth it in my view.

Accomodation:
If you are camping, there is no need to book.
If you want to stay in one of the chalets, just book with Betsie beforehand (no: 082 441 6270)
There is a pool too.

Lets get more vehicles, so Chuck can do an article.

P.S. If it is not too much trouble, please arrange for cash for payment.

You guys must enjoy it !!.... I'm going to hit Ponta for a little R&R and 2M and maybe a quick dive or two ( scuba that is, in case anyone was wondering ). The Outlaws are there from tomorrow so will gate crash them.

Hmmm and I just sweet spotted my turbo to show you petrol heads what a real diesel truck can do..... :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

Moegatle hill is moer intimidating, but with diesel you climb up at about 1200 rpm in 1st. With sufficient articulation its a breeze. Just don't rev the hell out of the motor if the wheel does become airborn, case as soon as it hits back ontothe rock you will cause major damage to the hubs/ sideshafts and or diffs. Bakkie articulation may not be as good as the station wagons and without difflock you may need a little more momentum, but not much, just a good steady constant forward movement.

I would DEFINITIVELY recommend Alex guide you, as there may be a few guys going that may not be as confident as other more experienced guys.

As always the Nissan guys, and I'm MASSIVELY proud of this fact, don't have "ego" issues. So much like the Nissan Off Road Owners Club conduct themselves, the same principles I'm sure will apply here too. So NEVER be stressed to ask someone for help and advice. The first time I went to Moegatle I chickened out of going up the big rock. I just didn't feel comfortable, and the next time I went there I cruised up it like it was a speed bump at the local Checkers parking lot. So always listen to the voice of reason, and enjoy the ride. There are some very technical obstacles there, which is nice to get to learn to trust the guide getting you through it.

Alex....That Witblits of yours is going to LOVE it there again.....hahahaha. I remember the one trip, I think he got that front wheel up so high I could have stood underneath his Patrol!!!

The most flexible axle vehicle will not do Koos se klim, unless the rear diff either locks or has traction control.
The reason for that is, it is too scew/steep. Gravity pulls the wheels down (which is vertical), but if you are moving 43deg up, a force pulling the wheel vertically down does not help. So you need lockers.

But don't stress, as Cedric says: in our group we respect each other enough in this regard.
The first time I was there, I gave Koos a skip. I did not have the nerve. Some did, and others opted out. Each decision is respected. Second visit I went up. Not sure yet what I wil do this weekend.
