Hi Cedric, Juice and all Forumers.

Nissan SA Customer support did contact me yesterday, they were checking to see if McCarthy Nissan had come back to me after a snotty e-mail I sent to them.

Since my visit on Saturday it seems like McCarthy Nissan have also jump started into action. They managed to get my Patrol started on Monday using quickstart.

They claim that this then re-set the ECU and now all is working fine.

I am going to collect the vehicle this afternoon.

Will let you all know if there are any problems.

Thanks for all your input and support.

Here's hoping......

All the best

Maurice

Fantastic !!!!.... Sometimes the dealerships just need a little kick in the ____ !!!

Unfortunately if the dealerships make nonsense the bad reflection falls back onto Nissan in general, and Nissan SA will never really know if things are going pear-shaped unless we can let them know what is happening. Hopefully if we keep the pressure on when there is a problem, the dealerships will realize that they need to perform for the money they charge. We the consumers have to stand up for our rights sometimes, otherwise we tend to get steamrollered out of the picture.

I'm also not saying that Nissan SA aren't without fault, but hey which business is perfect.... especially in SA ( unfortunately ).

Hi guys, thanks

The whole thing is really fishy to me.

Originally the motor just cut out as if the NATS system (or immobiliser) had kicked in.

McCarthy Nissan and Randburg Diesel struggled for more than 18 weeks between them and came up with nothing.

When I went last Saturday to McCarthy Nisan no-one in 18 weeks had even noticed that the glow plug and engine light relay was clicking in and out.

Anyway I will feel much better once I get the vehicle home and strip it down to see what damage they have done whilst it was in their possession. I am sure I will have to buy plenty of nuts, bolts, washers etc, to makes sure everything is secured correctly as it should be. Putting back the covers to hide missing bolts seems to be standard here after repairs. If they manage to strip a bolt (which they often do) they Loctite tight it into place so it falls out on the next gravel road :fire:

Let me know if there is any genuine issues with what they have done over the 18 week period.

I think Nissan SA gave them the ass kicking.... and they are like a sulky naughty child now and don't really want to let you know what was wrong. It was probably something small. Do a follow up with the person that contacted you to see a service report, as you cannot believe that it took 18 weeks for them to get the Patrol started..... with quickstart of all things !!!

Yes - since the fiasco after just buying my 'trol and having a Nissan dealership give it the once over, I don't let Nissan near my Patrol anymore.

Since then, it has only gone to Graham. :)

Edit: Oh - Good luck Maurice. Hope it is the end of your issues :)
